Stearns Alumni Staff Week At Camp Greenwood near Buffalo MN. www.facebook.com/event.php?eid=311719867948 Saturday, June 12, 2010 at 9:00am - Sunday, June 13, 2010 at 12:00pm Camp Greenwood Alumni Staff Week Weekend is just over a week away, so were reminding you that you’re welcome to come out too Camp Greenwood to check out the facility, help set up camp, and socialize with staff and other alumni! Program is mostly the same, with some cool new additions like skateboarding. There are also plenty of returning staff members, a few which have been around for 4 or more years now. Camp will provide lodging and food for you, and plenty of entertainment and stuff to do. A little change in schedule, because things are going to be somewhat hectic Friday night, Adam Tuchtenhagen (Camp Director) has asked that alumni arrive on Saturday so the staff has time to settle in. Also the Alumni Appreciation Dinner from the Northern Star Council has been moved to Saturday evening, to better accommodate alumni members weekend schedules (so alumni can leave when they want on Sunday and get some rest before returning to there weekday jobs). Details: Why Camp Greenwood? The attendance at Stearns Scout Camp has been decreasing for the last several years and one of the main reasons is the facilities. We are hoping that showing the camping committee, board, and donors that the program is great as always but we need these basic facilities (dinning hall, camper cabins, more showers, etcetera…) to compete with all the other programs that youth are given in the summer. The Northern Star Council is committed to Stearns Scout Camp, and the move to Greenwood is considered a temporary move with plans to use Stearns Scout Camp again as soon as possible. |
